wills in Turkey, are they legally binding.

This is my first post on the forum and its a question really that I would invite comments on as I dont know what the answer is.

I was told by a Turkish friend of mine that wills are of no use here and that everything goes to the family in particular the eldest son when you die,
Is this true??
My partner and I have both made wills in the UK leaving all we have to each other, then when we are both dead the rest divided between the children.is this legal in Turkey,if we get it Notorised and translated into Turkish?

I would be most grateful for any comments and suggestions,we have both been living in Dalyan for two and a half years.

warmest regards BL.
