  1. I’d probably go to Ephesus again and Pammukale too,the 2 day trip would have been too much out of a weeks’ holiday, but we’re going for 2 weeks this year.T.

  2. which picture would that be Raymondo? I can’t believe you take a travel iron either, no wonder your shirts always look in pristine condition, not a crease to be seen! We also have 100 lira left from last year and believe me we tried hard to spend it. I would buy some of that lovely olive oil soap from the market and a jar of honey with nuts, then use the rest to have a lovely evening meal and the Jazz bar for afters.

  3. Here’s a good idea…

As the 100 Lira has been in the loft for a while I presume you have not really missed it so when you go on your first trip of the year why not leave the 100 Lira behind one of the many bars in Dalyan for all your fellow forum members to have an Efes on you this coming year!!!

I think all forum members would really appreciate that don’t ou?

  4. Olive Oil SOAP??? Wondered why my bolognase tasted awful …i fried the onions in it, didnt know it was SOAP…. thought it was concentrated Olive Oil in a block…. as for leaving the 100 lira behind the bar i’ll pass on that one but i will always be willing to buy any forum member a drink, so long as they are over 60yrs. of age and have both their garandparents with them….

As i am in Dalyan from 17th April i was wondering what restaurants will be open, or will it be take my own sarnies,??? May have a few left in my hand luggage if i look hard enough..

  5. Oh Raymondo you didn’t!…..Did you??

Oh well not to worry, your insides will be soft, shiney and very smooth LOL

Olive oil soap is wonderful as it is pure so very safe for babies and young childrens tender skins, also for those with sensitive skin or akne probelms. If you can find olive oil soap with defne then this is especially good for eczama and psoriasis suffers as it is soothing and helps to clear up itchy patches.

Not sure how well it would enchance a bolognaise though 🙂

  6. There was nothing in my case except a few pairs of shorts and a fat hairy spider which shot off under the sofa (it was nearly big enough to drag a pair of shorts with it). Que screaming wife and excited cat on the hunt. Went out, returned to happy, satisfied looking cat. This was a couple of weeks ago – still makes me smile.

  7. Honey with nuts sounds fantastic is that from the market?

Been 2 yrs since we were there and i think my girls still have Turkish lira left from then. Since they are now old enough I assume they will be treating their mother to a drink at the bar! Am off to Barcelona on Thursday , I dont expect my euros are going to far there :((

  8. I hope they are the new Turkish Lira notes and not the old YTL notes as they ceased to be legal tender on 1st January 2010.

  9. I was just going to say the same thing about the Lira, I hope they are the new ones.

Yes you can get the honey from the market stalls, also Migros stocks it but as it gets near the end of season it disappears from the shelves, so the market is the best place, I usually haggle them down a few Lira, it is very thick and nutty, delicious. I have brought some back over the years, but I remember readng somewhere that it was illegal to do that, thank goodness I didn’t know at the time. Don’t know why they class it as illegal, maybe someone can shed some light on it.

  10. Oh how did i miss that one, they will be the old ones! No drink for me then:(

  12. Yes, a hundred lira. What would I buy ??? Oh yes……………25 Efes! can’t wait to get there and have my first one, nothing better in the heat than sitting watching the world go by with a very cold glass of the ‘amber nectar’!

  13. It is illegal to bring honey back into the country. I have brought honey and nuts back before, but don’t really know what to eat it with.

  14. Spud….try eating it with a spoon ‘cos it makes a hell of a mess with your fingers ……….

try it with ice cream ..delicious !!!! xxraymond0xx
